Tech, in the Classroom
Reading
Kindergarten: Standard 2
Students are to listen to a story that I have created for them and identify the words as well as following along. Once the story is over we will have a discussion about the story to identify main points as well as me asking them questions as a class.
K.RL.2.1: With support, ask and answer questions about main topics and key details in a text heard or read.
Voicethread is a great way to use technology and turn it into storytelling. It allows you to combine voice, text, video, and images to create a digital story. Voicethread is also a great opportunity to collaborate with other students from all over the world. Students are able to draw their own pictures and talk about it, or create their own stories and record their voices while telling it to others. Teachers are able to record there voices telling the stories and the kids can listen to them at home. This tool can help our kids to improve their listening, speaking and writing skills.
By using Voicethread, the teacher must stress the modeling theory. The students are to listen to the story and following along. As they read along with the audio voice they are learning how to say each word.
