2nd Grade: Standard 2
Students will be prompted to play this game, Sushi Monster, when they have good behavior in the classroom. Whenever the student has been good and they have finished the assignment early then they will be given the laptop or iPad as a reward and to keep them busy without distracting others.
2.CA.4: Add and subtract within 1000, using models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; describe the strategy and explain the reasoning used. Understand that in adding or subtracting three-digit numbers, one adds or subtracts hundreds and hundreds, tens and tens, ones and ones, and that sometimes it is necessary to compose or decompose tens or hundreds.
This app is a fun and challenging for students. This app allows each student to practice and enhance a student’s mathematical perception. This game allows students to stay interested and involved because with every answer they get correct they get a number of points. This app also strengthens their strategies for whole numbers in addition and multiplication by looking out for distractions and planning ahead.
Promack principle is when students do less preferred activities in order to do more preferred actvities. By offering the game in their downtime it tells the students to do less talking and goofing off and more good behavior, so that they are able to do a more preferred activity and play the game.
