Tech, in the Classroom
Math
2nd grade: Standard 2
Before the students start their Addition’s test, they have to complete a few stations of practicing. One of those stations include having a group of students grab an iPad or laptop and complete the addition’s cards that the teacher (myself) has customized for them, on this app. They are to practice and then time themselves for 10 minutes while they are in that station. Once the 10 minutes are up, then they move to the next station.
2.CA.1: Add and subtract fluently within 100.
Math Cards is a great way to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Not only is it eco-friendly but it saves a lot of time and money to make or buy math cards for your classroom. Teachers are able to customize their own cards and time their students. If a student would just like to study before a times test then they can turn the timer off, practice and then turn the timer back on to see if they can beat their times test.
Maslow's Theory of Hierarchy of Needs are spot on when it comes to group projects. It is hard for students to work in a group they are unfamiliar with. They like to feel safe, loved, related and have good self-esteem. Teachers try to push group projectsto help them trust one another as peers and improve their social development.
